ClearCorrect in Silver Spring, Md.

clearcorrectMaybe you’ve been thinking about getting braces, but you are not happy at the thought of how they will look — you aren’t looking forward to years of having unsightly metal brackets on your teeth. Dr. Allen Gotora and the staff at Stellar Dental can help, with ClearCorrect!

What is ClearCorrect?

ClearCorrect is a clear, almost invisible, system of aligners. The patient is given a different aligner every three weeks or so. Each aligner is a little different than the last, and over time the aligners gradually move the teeth into the desired position.

What is the procedure to get ClearCorrect?

  • The first step to getting ClearCorrect is for Dr. Gotora to perform a thorough examination of your teeth. He will discuss with you what you hope to achieve with ClearCorrect, and of course he will determine if ClearCorrect will be able to correct any issues you may have.

  • If Dr. Gotora decides that ClearCorrect is the right option for you, he will take impressions, photos and X-rays of your teeth. These will be used to develop your treatment plan and to write a prescription for your ClearCorrect aligners. This information will be sent to ClearCorrect, where they will make 3D models of your teeth. They will also develop a treatment “setup” that will show the desired position of your teeth at the end of your treatment.

  • The experts at ClearCorrect will then make “phase zero” passive aligners. These are custom-made to fit your teeth, and they will help you to get used to wearing your aligners. They will be sent to Stellar Dental for Dr. Gotora to give to you.

  • Then, your aligners will be made at ClearCorrect using the latest 3D technology. When the first set is ready, they will be sent to Dr. Gotora. At your next appointment he will give them to you and make sure they fit correctly. You should wear your aligner as much as you can, but you can take it out to eat and to take care of your teeth.

  • Most patients will wear their ClearCorrect aligners for between one to two years. The amount of time depends on the patient’s specific condition. When the ClearCorrect procedure is complete, the patient will most likely have to be fitted with a retainer, so that the teeth stay in their corrected position.

What are the advantages of ClearCorrect?

Many patients want ClearCorrect because they are nearly invisible, and can be worn without anyone even noticing them. However, there are also other advantages to choosing ClearCorrect aligners.

  • Some other clear aligner systems become cloudy when they are worn for a while, but not ClearCorrect.
  • ClearCorrect aligners are custom-fitted and smooth, which means they are comfortable. They cause little or no irritation to lips and gums.
  • They are easy to remove. This means you can take them out for a special occasion or when you want to enjoy your favorite meal. You also take them out to brush and floss your teeth, which means it is much easier to keep teeth clean than it is with traditional metal braces.

Why should I bother fixing my teeth?

  • Many people may think that braces and ClearCorrect are only done for cosmetic purposes — and, indeed, these orthodontic appliances can be used to give you the smile you’ve always wanted!

  • However, orthodontics can also help to correct problems with teeth that can be very serious if not treated. If your teeth are crooked, this can cause stress, damage and pain to the jaw. Because it can be hard to thoroughly clean teeth that are crooked or crowded together, tooth decay and gum disease may result.

  • ClearCorrect can also be used to help patients with teeth that have too much space between them or are rotated. It can also be used to help patients with overbites or underbites, which can be very painful and can cause jaw problems.

  • Of course, Dr. Gotora will have to examine your teeth and determine if ClearCorrect is the right option to correct problems. Traditional braces or even another treatment might be better.

How much does ClearCorrect cost?

clearcorrect2The cost of the total ClearCorrect treatment can vary depending on what your problems are and how many aligners it will take to correct them. Some patients may need more aligners and a longer treatment time than others. Dr. Gotora will be able to give you a cost estimate for ClearCorrect after he examines your teeth and develops a treatment plan for you.

ClearCorrect not only gives patients a great smile — these aligners can help prevent and correct many painful problems. Don’t put off getting help any longer! Make an appointment with Dr. Gotora to discuss ClearCorrect!
